SEMCORP Debuts at 2025 North America Battery Show, Unveils New Generation of Flame-Retardant Separator Products

From Oct 7-9, the highly anticipated 2025 North America Battery Show was held in Detroit, USA. SEMCORP Group showcased its leading lithium-ion battery separator products and latest R&D achievements, capturing significant attention across the North American market.

At this year’s exhibition, addressing the industry's common concerns over lithium battery safety, SEMCORP unveiled its newly developed next-generation flame-retardant separator. This product utilizes flame-retardant materials that absorb heat and decompose, releasing flame-inhibiting gases, which prevents the separator from burning in open flames. Furthermore, it reduces the coating base weight by over 40% (compared to alumina ceramic coatings), effectively enhancing cell energy density. Moisture content is also reduced by more than 20%, further extending battery cycle life.

Concurrently, SEMCORP exhibited its comprehensive product portfolio covering all major lithium battery material technology routes. This includes four key separator series: High-Safety, Fast-Charging, Long-Life, and High-Capacity, alongside representative cutting-edge solid-state technology products, helping high-quality Chinese separator technology shine on the international stage. Notably, the previously launched 5μm ultra-thin, high-strength base film was also on display. This product breaks through the technical bottleneck of "thinness equals fragility," boasting a puncture strength exceeding 560gf, and achieves an optimal balance between safety performance, energy density, and fast-charging capability. It attracted considerable interest from across the industry chain, resulting in a constant stream of customers and professional visitors to the booth for discussions.

Furthermore, in response to generational upgrades in lithium battery technology, SEMCORP, centering on "technological innovation," is proactively developing key materials for solid-state batteries. Currently, the company's ten-ton scale pilot line for sulfide solid-state electrolytes is fully operational, achieving full chain “vertically integrated innovation” from core raw materials to finished electrolyte films. This completes a horizontal layout spanning from mass production processes to frontier technology.
