SEMCORP’s 5µm Product Showcased at National Exhibition on New Industrialization and Major Industrial Achievements of the 14th Five-Year Plan

Today, the 25th China International Industry Fair grandly opened at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai), featuring the "National Exhibition on New Industrialization and Major Industrial Achievements of the 14th Five-Year Plan " (referred to as the "National Exhibition"). The independently developed 5µm ultra-thin, high-strength separator from SEMCORP Group made a high-profile debut in the exhibition area as a landmark achievement in the new materials sector during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this National Exhibition follows the main theme of "Innovation Drives Foundation Building, Industrial Upgrade Achieves Excellence". It systematically presents the historic breakthroughs made in China's new industrialization since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, focusing on four key dimensions: building a strong manufacturing nation, modernizing industrial chains, digital-intelligent and green transformation, and cluster development. The achievement exhibition zone selected approximately twenty high-end technologies, major equipment, and system solutions of strategic significance, covering critical fields such as marine engineering, rail transportation, clean energy, and information security, collectively highlighting the vigorous momentum of China's industrial technological self-reliance and high-quality development.

The 5µm ultra-thin, high-strength separator exhibited by SEMCORP features ultra-thinness, high strength, and high ionic conductivity. Compared to conventional 7µm separators, its thickness is reduced by 28.5%, providing more space for electrode materials and helping to enhance battery energy density and energy efficiency ratio. The separator can withstand a vertical puncture by a 560-gram weight without rupturing, representing a 16.7% increase in puncture strength compared to conventional products. Through high-precision structural control and multi-level chain synergy technology, it achieves a combination of high strength and toughness. Furthermore, a unique process creates small, dense nano-pore structures, shortening the lithium-ion migration path and boosting ionic conductivity by 13.3%.
